    FAQs

      Q. What can we expect from our first visit to Pro Care Physio?

    A. On the first visit, our consultant physiotherapist would perform tests and assess a patient’s condition to diagnose the underlying issue. The therapist would also then review all relevant medical reports to obtain a better understanding regarding the patient’s current condition and his/her lifestyle. After a thorough analysis and discussion with the patient, an effective and suitable treatment plan would be constructed based on the patient’s compatibility and adaptability. Of course, the treatment plan would be explained in detail to the patient before obtaining his/her consent before scheduling appointments for future actions.

      Q. What kind of physiotherapy treatment approaches have to be undergone by the patients?

    A. The offered treatment plans are heavily dependent on the types of conditions presented by a patient and whether or not they are acute or chronic. Treatment plans are generally flexible and alterable according to a patient’s adaptability, and includes manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, therapeutic modalities. The treatment approaches in our centre are non-surgical, drugs free, no side effect and safe treatment method for any age group.

      Q. How much do I need to pay for each treatment session?

    A. A first-time patient is required to produce a consultation fee of RM 50.00. Any additional cost thereafter depends on the patient’s willingness to move further along the course of a suggested treatment plan, besides the type of treatment offered. Generally the average charges per treatment session ranges from RM 80.00 to RM 180.00. The expenses involved in a course of treatment would be quoted to a patient prior to commencing any form of treatment plan, hence patients need not worry about exceeding their budgets. Another plus point from our side is that we have an insurance expert who would assist patients with insurances and medical cards to process claims from their respective insurance companies. Patients with insurance or medical cards could lighten their financial burden through these claims.

      Q. How many treatment sessions do I need to undergo to get better?

    A. The duration of a course of treatment is very much linked to the severity of a patient’s condition. A consultant would suggest the most suitable duration for optimal results and an effective recovery but it is up to the patients and their will to consistently attend treatment sessions without fail. Though not solely depending on a patient, his/her commitment to a treatment plan plays a huge role for a speedy and wholesome recovery.

      Q. What is the difference between Spinal Decompression therapy and traction?

    A. Both methods are aimed to pull the spine and provide a stretch, but the method effectiveness of treatment is different. Traction is difficult to target a specific area of the spine and the force cannot be easily monitored. Sudden pull and release from traction can cause muscle guarding and there is always a chance of stretching muscles rather than spine. Spinal Decompression is performed on a computerised table which has multiple segments allowing the angles of application to be changed, thereby targeting specific discs. Spinal Decompression can precisely hold and release (to an exact 50% or 25% of the force) and repeat – again and again – during a single treatment. It’s made the muscles more relax throughout the treatment and lead the spine separation better. Greater spine separation creates a negative pressure and help carry blood supply and nutrients into the targeted disc. Rehydration of the disc and surrounding structures creates a physiological change which assists the body’s natural healing process.

      Q. What is the difference between a hot pack and a cold/ice pack?

    A. A cold or ice pack is used to reduce swelling caused by inflammation from acute injuries such as sprains, or AFTER performing activities that could aggravate a chronic injury such as slipped discs to prevent inflammation. A cold/ice pack could be used for any condition related to joint and muscle injury or inflammatory conditions.

A hot pack is used BEFORE performing activities that aggravate chronic injuries to avoid muscle strains. The applied heat would aid in loosening tissues and relax an injured area prior to exerting force upon it. A heat pack could be used for conditions related to muscle tightness or joint stiffness.

The usage of a hot or cold/ice pack depends on a person’s condition and purpose. It is advisable to consult a professional expert before using it.

      Q. Is going to a physiotherapist a “quick fix”?

    A. We understand how everyone wishes to get well and going as soon as possible to resume life as it was, however the duration for a course of treatment is highly dependent on the type and severity of a person’s condition. Though a few conditions could be treated quickly, most conditions require a longer period of treatment as the treatment plans offered are for complete, wholesome recovery and not only pain relief. Post-treatment exercise plans are also required to ensure a full lifestyle after treatment and to prevent any possible relapse of a cured condition.
